Cultural mentor is a specialist who instructs those wanting
to be integrated into the new society:
- an immigrant with
expertise, training other immigrants to accommodate themselves
and to advance in their life.
A cultural mentor works within organisations, the aim of
which is to help the immigrants to adapt into the everyday
life in their new country (schools and institutions, day-care
centres, city offices etc.)
A cultural mentor will be trained to his work through a
special project, which takes place in 2004 - 2006 and is realized by the Oulu Settlement Association. The financing for
this project comes from the Object- 3 program of the European
Social Fund.
